A Cookie and a Kiss

For all things beautiful, delicious and fun

tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?

how I was going to get to the moon someday.

What a day!

This was one of those days!  I decided I would take care of the errand that would take up most of my day with driving.  I put it off and put if off.  I had a handbag which I purchased at Kate Spade outlet in Clinton.  It was a birthday gift to me.  Well, no one in my immediate family liked what I picked out.  Oh my goodness. It’s not that I should count on other people’s opinion for the little things I like. However, I do like my guys to comment on my little splurges because I think they care about how I look.

So today, I drove to Clinton Crossing with my return.  I was organized.  I had my receipt packed into the bag with the purse and put it into my car yesterday afternoon.  Today, I got to the outlets, went to fetch the bag and my receipt.  Lo and behold, no receipt! I got into the store and pleasantly asked them what they could do for me.  The store manager said the policy is a receipt is necessary to do any return for full refund, or you you can get store credit for the item at the lowest price available. That didn’t make me happy.  I mean, I can’t drive that far to shop again for a long time. I asked the store manager if she could make an exception for me, if I show her the purchase on my Am Ex statement.  Her answer was “no, not possible”.  ”Okay” I said, “but this is a huge inconvenience and a stupid mistake on my part. What can you do for me?”  She said she could extend my return time period for a few more days so I could come back with the receipt.  Ugh.  No way.  It sounded horrible to me.  I’m not going back there next week. I started to whine a little more, I asked her if I could mail the return back to her instead of driving back the 60 miles it is, and asked if she would pay for the shipping. She said “sure”.  She printed me the UPS label and I graciously said, “thank you.”  Lordy, what a mess.  I couldn’t believe myself that I forgot that darn receipt.

At home, there was the receipt on my counter.  I had taken it out this morning to review.  Note to self, don’t forget the receipt!!

Sunday afternoon

My Sunday has gone like this: got up from a weak night sleep, went to church and met our new pastor for the second time although it was his first day.  Delivered a loaf of cranberry nut bread to him and  felt good about giving a very small gift to someone new in church.  Tough place to walk into and take on the job of Sr. Minister.  He will do well, in good time.

Picked up my younger boy at a birthday party in the park.  Laser guns and lacrosse at Cherry Lawn for 2 hours and about 30 boys.  Freezing outside, but not for the boys.  The mom of the birthday boy served hot chocolate for them and cake!  Whistles came in the goody bags and the entire field of boys were chirping on them.  Loud! Even outside.

Came home to change and eat lunch.  Have been feeling sentimental whenever I look at my children.  To have them is a miracle and to see them grow up is amazing.

Walked the dog with my boy on his bike.  Freezing and fun.  My dog ran and barked and smiled.  My boy and I laughed and once again I felt sentimental.  It is love for someone you care so deeply about.  It is the happiness created in taking the time to spend time together.  Doing an activity as simple as walking and bike riding together.

About to go and have tea with prospective new members of our summer club.  It is the interview process before they are chosen to become members.  Nothing terrible about it, just the formality.

Then finally, back at home for dinner and relaxing with the family before the week begins again.

Trying something new~

Today I stumbled upon tumblr.com and I’m going to give it a try!  This will not be easy for me, but I don’t think it will be difficult either.  I can waste a lot of time on the internet!  I am going to begin here, by blogging things that are important to me, things I love to do, and things that I want to learn more about.

Wish me luck!! xoxo
